Reflex Arc.
The Reflex arc. is the pathway the impulses take from the receptor to the effector.
Reflex action an automatic, innate response to a particular stimulus; it involves the contraction of the skeletal muscles and the spinal cord only.
The part below the knee cap is struck by a reflex hammer. The sensory receptor in the muscle is stretched.
Sensory Neuron is stimulated to send out a nerve impulse which travels to the axon terminal in the Spinal Cord.
Neurotransmitters (released and diffused across the synapse) triggers the motor neuron to send out a new nerve impulse to the effector.
At the axon terminal of the motor neuron, neurotransmitters are released and stimulate the muscle calls to contract which causes the leg to swing forward.
